Wutai Mountain in Shanxi Province
Situated
in the northeast of Wutai County , Mt.Wutai is one of the four famous
mountains to the Buddhists and has five terrace-like peaks, including
Wanghai Peak in the east, Guayue Peak in the west, Jinxiu Peak in
the south, Yedou Peak in the north and Cuiyan Peak standing in the
central part. From May to August every year, it is the best period
for tourism. It is located in Shanxi
Province. |

Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province
Standing
to the southwest of Qingyang County,Mt.Jiuhua is one of the four
sacred Buddhist mountains in China,covering more than 100 km z.
Among the 99 peaks in the mountain, 9 peaks such as Tiantai, Lianhua,
Tianzhu, Shiwang, etc, are the most magnificent. The highest Shiwang
Peak has an elevation of 1342 metres above sea level. It is located
in Anhui Province.
Mt.Jiuhua
possesses clear rivers,beautiful waterfalls, bizarre rocks, caves,
green pines and bamboos. It also has famous ancient temples and
other historic sites. Now,there are still 78 ancient temples, such
as Huach eng Temple, Huiju Temple and Baisui Palace, etc-among which,Huacheng
Temple is one of the main ancient temples in China.Therefore, it
has been known as "The first mountain in Southeast China". |

Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province
Situated
within Zhoushan Islands of Zhejiang
Province, Mt. Putuo is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains
in China. It is actually a small island of Zhoushan Islands, covering
an area of 12.5 km2, with more than 300 temples, among which Puji,
Fayu and Huiji Temples are the most famous. The main scenic spots
include Qianbusha Beach, Chaoyang Cave, Fanyin Cave, South Heavenly
Gate and West Heavenly Gate, etc. |

Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province
Situated
in Emeishan City, Sichuan province,
Mt. E'mei is a national major famous scenic area, and one of the
four famous Buddhist mountains, covering about 200 km z. It offers
the tourists four spectacular views: the sunrise, sea of clouds,
Buddha's Light and the sunset glow.
Mt.Emei
possesses a great number of temples, which began to be built in
the Western Han Dynasty. From the northeastern foot to its summit
stand many famous temples and other buildings, such as Baoguo Temple,
Fuhu Temple, Huayan Temple, Chunyang Hall,Shengshui Pavilion, Wannian
Temple,Xixiang (Elephant Bathing) Pool,Jiulao(Nine Old Men) Cave,
Xianfeng Temple and Jinding Top,etc,housing countless cultural relics.
The bronze statue of Samantabhadra towering in Wannian Temple is
7.3 metres high, 62 tons in weight and is one of the major cultural
relics of China.With its abundant historic sites and fascinating
natural scenery,Mt. Emei is highly valuable in history study, aesthetics,
scientific research and tourism.
