Nature Reserves
A
nature reserve is an area approved by the government, in which
biological varieties and natural remains are specially managed and
protected. With the rapid population growth and worsening of the
global environments, the establishment and development of nature
reserves will play an increasing important role in protecting natural
environments, natural resources and rare animals and plants, and
conserving the ecosystem. Moreover, the typical ecological environments,
rare animals and plants, the unique natural landscapes in nature
reserves can offer ideal prerequisites for developing special tourist
industry, such as ecological survey scientific research and exploration.
etc. As tourist activities become varied and people gradually
realize the need to protect the environment, nature reserves have
great potentialities in developing high-grade tourist products.
Up
to the end of 2000, 11 of the 143 national nature reserves in China,
have been included in the "Man and Biosphere" of UN.
