Hunan Province
Lying
on the south bank in the middle reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze)
River,the province borders on Jiangxi,Guizhou,Hubei,Guangxi
and Chongqing Municipality. The
Changjiang River flows through its nor-them part and brings a large
amount of water into the Dongting Lake.Area:over 210000km2.
Hunan province is surrounded by the uplands in the west, south and
east, which fall steadily toward the plain of the Dongting Lake
in the north. Mountainous areas and hilly lands constitute 80% of
the total area.

enjoys a subtropic humid monsoon climate with distinct four seasons,
The annual mean temperature is 15-18.5°C and the annual rainfall
is 1300-1800mm.
Hunan
has a long history and a great number of cultural relics, historic
sites and a beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains. The well-known
scenic areas, such as Mt.Hengshan,
Wulingyuan, Yueyang Tower, Dongting Lake and Shaoshan-the home
village of Mao Zedong, are all the national major famous scenic
areas,among which Wulingyuan Scenic Area was included in the World
Heritages by UNESCO. Besides Emperor Yan's Mausoleum, Yuelu Academy-one
of the four famous academies in the Song Dynasty,and Taohuayuan,etc,are
all quite familiar to the visitors Hunan is also one of the birthplaces
of the new democratic revolution of China, therefore, the former
residences of Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi and the sites of the Autumn
Uprising and Pingjiang Uprising have long been the famous tourist
sites.
The
output of lotus seeds ranks the first in China, while the output
of tea and orange ranks The second. "Silver needle" tea
in Junshan, Maojian green tea in Dayong, Yinfeng green tea in Changsha,
and the porcelain in Liling are all famous local products.
