Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Lying
in the northern border area of China, it is the first autonomous
region in the country, which was set up on May 1, 1947, and is inhabited
by about 80 percent of the population of the Mongolian nationality
in China.The Region borders on Gansu,
Ningxia, Shaanxi,
Shanxi, Hebei,
Liaoning, Jilin,
and Mongolia and Russia. Area: more than 1180000 km2.
Inner
Mongolia is essentially an inland plateau with a flat surface and
fringed by mountains and valleys.
It
enjoys a continental monsoon climate of the temperate zone, with
a long and cold winter, Nut a pleasant summer. The annual mean temperature
is -1-10'C, and the annual precipitation is 50-450 mm
Because
of its vast area belonging to the plateau grassland landscape, therefore,

seasons for tourism.
The
Region has a long history. Countless historic cultural relics and
archeological studies have proved that it is one of the birthplaces
of the Chinese nation. The Nadam Fair held in a period between July
and August every year is a good chance to enjoy the fascinating
grassland scenery and the local customs of the Mongolian nationality.
