Situated
by the side of Lihu Lake, Liyuan is a famous garden of Wuxi
City. It consists of the original Liyuan Garden and Yuzhuang(Fishing
Village),which were built in 1927 and 1930 respectively and linked
by a long corridor.As the story goes, during the Spring and Autumn
period, Fan Li, the minister of the Yue State, once boated here
companied by Xi Shi.
The
garden covers an area of 87 mu, of which water surface occupies
35.3 mu.

Situated
on the shore of Taihu Lake, Wuxi City has a long history and is
one of the major tourist cities of Jiangsu Province for its
charming scenery. Since ancient times, Wuxi has been a city with
prosperous industry and commerce, and is known as a "Minor
Shanghai” and a” Pearl on Taihu Lake".
Taihu
Lake is located on the southern edge of the Changjiang Delta
between Jiangsu and Zhejiang, and is one of the five famous fresh-water
lakes in China, occupying a water surface of about 2428 km2.
