Situated
in the middle reaches of the Huaughe River, Ningxia Hui Autonomous
Region is bounded by Shaanxi ,
Gansu Provinces and Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region. Area: over 66000 km2.
The region extends across the
Loess Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau, with an average height
of over 1000 metres above sea level. Mountainous areas occupy 15.8%
of its total land.
Ningxia
enjoys a temperate continental climate , The annual mean temperature
is 5-10C' and the yearly precipitation is 200-600 mm.
Ningxia
possesses a great number of historic sites, among which, the famous
Western Xia Kings' Tombs are the most attractive.
The"Five
Treasures of Ningxia"are the famous special products in five
colours, including the fruit of Chinese wolfberry in red, the licorice
root in yellow, the inkstone in blue, the Tan-sheepskin in white
and the flagelliform nostoc in black.
